The Speaker of the House, Professor Peter Katjavivi, addressed the concerns surrounding MP Jerry Ekandjo's Notice of Motion, providing an explanation of the sequence of events.

The Speaker clarified that his office had not issued any instructions to exclude Ekandjo's motion from the Order Paper."Let me make it clear: there was never an instruction from my office or from myself or my office not to place his motion on the Order Paper."

The National Assembly Speaker, Professor Peter Katjavivi, has appealed for respect among parliamentarians.

This follows the opposition MPs' two-day walkout in the House last week.

The walkout was sparked by comments made by Works and Transport Deputy Minister Veikko Nekundi, who compared the colonial budget, which he claimed was under the PDM or the then-DTA government, to a criminal and genocidal budget, and referred to the opposition as hypocrites.
