The day is meant to honor the men and women who often risk their lives to save others.

Whether it's an uncontrollable inferno or an emergency rescue situation, firefighters are usually the first to respond.

As a result, Fire Fighters Day is an opportunity to recognize those who go above and beyond to keep the community and its property safe.

Windhoek Mayor to host Christmas lunch for elderly and less privileged at Zoo Park

The Mayor of Windhoek is expected to host a Christmas lunch for hundreds of elders as well as hand out gifts to the less privileged, starting this coming Friday at the Zoo Park.

The Head of Corporate Communications, Lydia Amutenya, announced the development in an interview with Good Morning Namibia.

The Christmas market is a platform created by the council as a platform for businesses to showcase their products and find innovative ways to generate income.

But how will the council ensure that there are sufficient feet on the ground to support the initiative?

City of Windhoek to hold Municipal Council's elections on 1 December

The City of Windhoek has announced that it will hold the Municipal Council's elections on 1 December.

Positions of office bearers, including the Mayor and members of the Management Committee, will be for the year 2023.

The city is led by a coalition council,  with LPM Councillor, Sade Gawa!nas as mayor and AR Councillor Ilse Keister as the chairperson of the Management Committee.

 The council will elect new leadership at 14h30 in the Council Chamber on Friday.

City of Windhoek concludes last ordinary council meeting for 2022

The City of Windhoek held its last ordinary council meeting before it elects new office-bearers and closes off the 2022 calendar.

One of the activities, and the one that residents have been waiting for, is the appointment of the City's substantive Chief Executive Officer.

After a protracted and at times controversial recruitment process, the Council approved the appointment of Conrad Lutombi, who finally got the minister's blessing.
