The 2025 Regional Councils and Local Authorities elections will take place on the 26th of November, with Special Voting for electoral officials and uniformed personnel set for November 24th, National Council Chairperson Lucas Muha announced.

The Chief Electoral and Referenda Officer of the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN), Peter Shaama, outlined the components of the 2025 Regional Councils and Local Authorities Elections calendar on Wednesday.

Senior citizens were the dominant demographic at the start of voting in the Kamanjab Constituency by-elections today. 

While voter turnout in more remote areas was hampered by inaccessible roads in flooded areas, those who turned up called for tangible development in their areas.

His remarks come as opposition candidates Dr. Panduleni Itula and Bernadus Swartbooi challenge the election outcome in the Supreme Court, citing alleged irregularities and calling for re-election.

The Swapo Party's Moses Khumub is the Councillor for the Guinas Constituency following Friday's by-election, defeating the Landless People's Movement's Fransiskus Khumub.

Moses garnered 1,407 votes to take the seat left vacant following the death of Elias Martinus.

The voting process began smoothly at the two polling stations at Oshivelo and Ondera farms for the Guinas Constituency by-election in the Oshikoto Region this morning.

At the Oshivelo Police Station polling station, voting started slow, resulting in a short queue and quick voting.
