The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) canvassed for votes in the Okaku Constituency ahead of next Friday's by-election.
The party's rally was attended by MPs, party leaders, and individuals at different levels.
Taking to the podium, Immanuel Ngaringombe, the party's Secretary General implored voters to deliver victory, saying that once voted into power, the party will bring much-needed development to the constituency.
Ngaringombe added that the party has fielded a youthful candidate who will work tirelessly to ensure that developmental challenges facing the residents of Okaku, such as unemployment, are addressed.
"Our work as leaders must be to serve these people. Before you drive a Land Cruiser, before you build a big house, make sure that there are income-generating activities for these young people. Make sure that the houses here in Okaku Constituency have toilets, and make sure that traditional leaders are making a fair distribution of land for people to build their houses; that should be your job. We must serve our people and serve them with dignity."
Jason Haufiku, who was born and raised in the constituency, says youth empowerment will enjoy priority, noting that young people have suffered and languished in poverty in the past years due to a lack of job opportunities, forcing them to turn to alcohol.
"I want to inform you that if you vote for me, you will see a valuable change in this great constituency. You will finally taste tangible development. We will be constructing toilets, especially for the elderly. Give us a chance. Work with us for the betterment of our constituency. I am young and able to deliver the best results that benefit you, the electorate."
Haufiku is set to contest the elections with three other candidates from NEFF, IPC, and Swapo.
