The 2023 Cape Epic continued today with stage 3 in Cape Town, where Namibia's Professional cyclist Vera Looser and cycling partner Kim le Court ended in 3rd place today. Christel Kotze has an update.
Vera Looser and Kim le Court managed a solid third position today, in a tough and rugged stage 3 which took riders from Hermanus to the Oak Valley over a distance of 101km and massive 2250m climbs.
Looser and le Court managed to keep up with the front runners Amy Wakefield and Candice Lill until about halfway but then started falling back.
Despite a gap being created between 1st and 3rd place, the duo kept pushing through and stayed in the third spot for the remainder of the race, coming in 8 minutes and 42 seconds after the leaders.
The pair will keep their 3rd position overall in the 19th edition of the event.
Thursday will see the racers take on stage 4, which will take place in the boundaries of the Oak Valley estate.
While it's a much shorter route with just 47km to cover, steep climbs of 875 metres lay ahead, with riders racing against time, in the mid-week time trail.
