Bishop Benjamin Limbo has stressed the importance for Christians to celebrate Easter weekend to remember the great sacrifice that Jesus made.

Bishop Limbo, who is the president of the Zambezi Church Forum, stated that 95% of Namibians are Christians, therefore it is important to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and his promise of eternal life.

"So, what Christians are supposed to be doing now is celebrate. Not because we are saying we are celebrating the birth; we are celebrating the death and the resurrection. This is why, it's the lamb that was slain for our sins. Okay, that dying is what we really celebrate because that was my place. I was supposed to die, but someone decided to die on my behalf. So, I really appreciate that one, and then we said, 'As often as you remind yourself of my death and my resurrection, you know, you recommit yourself to Christianity, you know, you recommit yourself to being a child of God, you remind yourself that you're not in this world by yourself but somebody brought you here at a high price."

Limbo said that even though various churches gathered in celebration around Katima Mulilo over the weekend, many Christians do not respect the true meaning and celebration of the Passover.

"There are many Christian festivals, but that is a major one among the Christian festivals, so this time we're supposed to see more Christians united, more Christians really gather themselves in the values of Christianity, and we're supposed to remind ourselves how Jesus suffered for us."
