A team of forty Egyptian medical specialists and support staff are in Namibia to assist in the provision of health care services.

There are many patients in need of medical care but have limited human and infrastructure capacity, especially for complicated surgeries.

Namibia and Egypt have over the years built historic relations on multiple levels, most notably in the health sector.

The 8th mission by the Coptic Medical Association of North America will this time focus on how to equip Namibians to have sustainable levels of health expertise.

This is especially by educating and developing advanced cardiac care in hospitals.

The team of medical professionals commenced their duties at the Katutura and Central hospitals as well as outreach programmes at schools.

Surgeries to be performed include brain surgeries, gynecological and plastic surgery amongst others.

The free assistance will help ease the burden of the already congested line of awaiting patients to be treated and operated on.

The team under the leadership of the Coptic Orthodox Church will also provide prosthetic limbs.

The team will be in Windhoek for a week or two.
