The Deputy Governor of the Bank of Namibia, Ebson Uanguta says recent graduates are entering a world of constant change and uncertainty, and they need to swiftly succeed in that environment.
Uanguta was addressing Namibian College of Open Learning graduates in Windhoek.
It was a jovial affair as parents and loved ones celebrated the academic achievements of 537 graduates at NAMCOL.
The Deputy Governor of the Central Bank told the graduates they must have a hunger to succeed if they want to make it in the forever-changing world of work.
"Technological advancements, globalization, and shifting societal norms are altering how we live, work, and interact with one another. You must be agile, flexible, and innovative to succeed in this environment."
Dr Heroldt Murangi in his address, also stressed the importance of being able to function in a challenging and competitive environment.
"It has many challenges, for NAMCOL to remain relevant, for you to remain relevant. We should execute the things we believe in and we cannot move slowly. We have to move fast and we have to be willing to deliver at a very high speed in whatever we do."
The Deputy Minister of Education, Arts and Culture, Faustina Caley spoke about the importance of the TVET sector saying it is a critical contributor to human capital development.
"TVET holds the key to technological progress, rapid industrialization, wealth creation, and poverty reduction and it is an in the national socio-economic development of a country."
Efraim Augustus and Anna Shavuka graduated with level three certificates in Plumbing and Pipefitting. These are their plans for the future.
"I'm just planning to open my own company so that I can employ my colleagues who didn't succeed in this."
"To do my company or the next step, I want to go to NUST to do instruction so that I will be an instructor."
