Messages of congratulations started pouring in ahead of the coronation of King Charles III and his wife Camilla tomorrow as king and queen of the United Kingdom.

Speaker of the National Assembly Professor Peter Katjavivi says the coronation of King Charles III marks a new chapter for the commonwealth family.

This will be the first coronation after 70 years. 

King Charles III became king immediately after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II in September last year.

A letter to the House of Commons by National Assembly Speaker Professor Peter Katjavivi conveyed well wishes to King Charles III.

He further congratulated the people of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland as they mark the king's ascension to the British throne.

Professor Katjavivi expressed confidence in the King's leadership in championing world guidance and support on matters like climate change management and global peace.

Recalling memories of the late Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to Namibia in 1991, Professor Katjavivi stated that her leadership and legacy will continue to guide the Commonwealth of Nations for decades to come.
