The Okahandja Town Municipality finally received the petition of the aggrieved residents yesterday after failing to do so on five occasions.
Residents want to discuss the appointment of a debt collector, the lack of development as well as the prepaid water system.
The municipality hired Red Force to collect debt on its behalf.
These residents say, the municipality never approached them regarding the work of Red Force.
The Group's Spokesperson Johnny Kamps says the move is unjustifiable especially because there are orphans, pensioners and most people are unemployed and are not in a position to settle their debts on time.
"This community is unshakably convinced that the integrity of debts which the municipality procedurally handed over to Red Force, is corrupted to the extent that they cannot stand any professional scrutiny for verification, given such skeletons in the closet, the community remains unable to associate themselves with payments thereof until such time that is proven. This, however, requires mutually beneficial consultative engagements."
Okahandja Municipality's Chief Executive Officer Alphons Tjitombo received the petition.
"I am ordered that if the petition has been received we end here and the council pronounce itself and that will be conveyed to the petitioners."
However, chaos broke out when the CEO failed to concretely answer the residents' questions.
Meanwhile, the residents promised to camp at the Okahandja Municipality offices until they receive answers.
