Otjiwarongo Secondary School was recently awarded the best-performing government school in the Otjozondjupa Region for the year 2022.

The overall best-performing school award went to Educate Academy, a private school in Otjiwarongo.

The best-performing learners both for the Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary Level and the Advanced Subsidiary received a trophy, a certificate, and N$420.

Three of the best-performing learners were from Otjiwarongo and Grootfontein secondary schools, respectively, while Edugate and Karstveld academies each had two.

Expert Ashipala was the only learner from Grootfontein Secondary School who made it to the top 10 list of best performers.

The list of best-performing teachers was topped by Otjiwarongo Secondary School and Edugate Academy teachers.

The overall best-performing teacher award for NSSCO was awarded to Otjiwarongo Secondary School teachers Arlete Sambiliye and Klementine Shikongo.

The Advanced Subsidiary Level overall best-performing teacher award went to Grootfontein Secondary School's Karen Coetzee.

Karundu Secondary School improved from 15.5% to 36.87% and was awarded as the most improved school for NSSCO.

For Advanced Subsidiary, Karsveld Academy scooped the award for the most improved school with a 34% improvement.

Educate Academy is the overall best-performing school, as the learners received A (star) to C symbols in their final exams.

A special award was given by the Education Director in the region to Otjiwarongo Secondary School for being the best public school in the region, with 77% of last year's grade 11 candidates qualifying for the Advanced Subsidiary level.

The Otjozondjupa Directorate of Arts and Culture is ranked fifth nationally in terms of performance compared to other regions on both ordinary and advanced subsidiary levels.
