The Ministry of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform (MAWLR), in collaboration with the Centre for Coordination of Agriculture Research and Development (CCARDESA), embarked on a three-day training workshop on the Malabo Declaration Commitments on Accelerated Agricultural Growth and Transformation for Shared Prosperity and Improved Livelihoods and Knowledge Management.
The workshop’s objectives are to emphasise the importance of knowledge management in reporting on Malabo commitments as part of the biennial review process to key stakeholders and share Namibia’s performance results and strides made towards meeting the Malabo declaration by 2025.
The ministry is tasked with the responsibility of collecting data and reporting on the Comprehensive African Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) XP4 biennial report for Namibia.
In a speech read on her behalf, Ndiyapuki Nghituwamata, Executive Director in the Agriculture Ministry, says Namibia has unfortunately only met the Malabo targets once.
This, she says, needs to be addressed through wider stakeholder involvement, improved sharing of information at the national level, and working towards meeting the country’s targets.
