The Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) has expanded its footprint in the Hardap Region with the opening of a satellite office at Mariental.
The office, located in the Hardap Regional Council Office Building, says Nillian Mulemi, Chairperson, GIPF Board of Trustees, will provide GIPF-related services.
"The opening of this satellite branch was necessitated by the outcry for more accessible services in the region; previously, members had to travel to Keetmanshoop and other closer offices, including Windhoek, which are all far from the closer services. Yes, GIPF boosted its overall investment in the region with N$170 million through many projects, including renewable energy, land servicing, and housing development, but what good is this if our members still need to travel long distances to access services? This is why we are here today to close this gap and avail a physical presence not only for members residing in Mariental but those in surrounding areas."
Hardap Regional Governor Salomon April appealed to the region's inhabitants to optimally access the services to be offered at the office.
"It is indeed heartwarming when services are brought to the doorstep of our people. We have to seize the opportunity and ensure that GIPF members in the Hardap Region make use of the office to the maximum."
Members of GIPF were happy now that GIPF services were closer to them.
