Landless People's Movement leader Bernadus Swartbooi says a country marked by inequality will not be able to sustain its independence, peace, and stability in the future.
Swartbooi made these remarks while addressing the belated independence celebrations gathering at Farm Komsberg in the ||Kharas Region.
The inhabitants of Karasburg East celebrated their belated independence at Komsberg in the ||Kharas Region.
" A country that is independent but does not make sure that every community all over the country gets equal opportunities in employment and in other economic sectors so that all communities can thrive, a country that prevents everybody from getting a fair share, is a country whose independence cannot be sustainable; it is a country whose freedom cannot be meaningful to everyone."
Swartbooi warns that inequality among country patriots threatens peace and stability.
"A house that never treats its children equally is a house whose foundation will be broken down by those very children", Swartbooi added.
Also speaking at the occasion was Karasburg East Constituency Councillor, Anseline Beukes.
"Independence Day comes once a year with so many reasons to celebrate the achievements of a nation; this is also a time to show respect to those that shed their blood and fought tirelessly for the freedom of our great nation. We have before us the glorious opportunity to inject a new dimension of love into the veins of our civilization. Freedom is priceless, you can never buy it anywhere".
