Following a disagreement over salary increments between Netbank Namibia and its employees on Thursday, leading to a demonstration by the employees, the Namibia Financial Institutions Union (NAFINU) and Nedbank Namibia have finally reached an agreement after a roundtable discussion.
Both parties have agreed to further discuss the employees' demands regarding salary increments and other obstacles they have raised.
The employees have requested fair treatment at work, a 10% salary increment instead of the initially proposed 7%, prioritising the hiring of Namibians over South Africans, and refraining from arbitrary hiring and firing practises, among other demands.
The outcome of the discussions aims to resolve the current impasse.
Both Netbank Namibia and NAFINU have committed to engaging in constructive dialogue to address the concerns raised.
Nedbank Namibia has expressed its commitment to achieving mutually beneficial outcomes and will provide an update on the progress within the next two weeks.
