The diversion of the construction of the new school at Ndama informal settlement has left community members unhappy.

They are now calling on the Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture to further investigate the matter.

Following the relocation of the school from Ndama East to Ndama West, which was the initial site of construction approved by the town council, Governor Bonifatius Wakudumo announced on nbc News that the school would be built at Ndama East.

This change of plan left the community wondering what could have led to the change of heart.

The community highlights that on June 23, the council resolved to donate one of the four unplanned portions of land to Ndama East School.

Community members argue that diverting the school away from the Ndama location is unfair.

"The Ndama community fails to understand the issue of diversion of the Ndama school budget to Sikanduko 2 by the Directorate of Education in Kavango East. Instead of building the school at the place where learners are being taught under the trees, the office of the Directorate of Education chose to take the construction to Sun City, which is against what is on paper," said Ndama Community members spokesperson, Ndumba Paulus.

The Ndama community points out that this is a national issue that threatens free, quality, and accessible education.

They are now calling on the Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture to intervene.

Paulus further stated that, if their demands are not positively addressed, they will protest.
