The City of Windhoek (CoW) is urging parents to enrol their children from one year to five years at its Early Childhood Development and Pre-Primary centres.

The application forms will be available from 26 July at all the centres between 08h00-16h30.

The centres are located in Rocky Crest, while Jonas Haiduwa and Aam Been Dee centres are situated in the Okuryangava Residential area.

The City's Pulbic Relations Officer, Lydia Amutenya, couldn't emphasise more the importance of early childhood development as a foundation for the growth of any child.

"Dear parents and guardians, please take note that you have a unique role in shaping your child's future by embracing the opportunity by loving, nurturing, and creating an environment for the early years of our children. Together,  let us unlock the full potential of our children."

In addition, Amutenya says early experience shapes and develops language, communication skills, and the child's brain.

When registering the child, parents and guardians should bring along certified copies of the applicant's birth certificate or passport, and two colour passport photos.

The closing date for applications is August 31.
