Namibia has the potential to gain valuable insights from Zimbabwe in the field of agriculture.
Namibia's Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Nicklaas Kandjii, says Zimbabwe stands out as one of only two African countries that accomplished wheat self-sufficiency during the previous season, solidifying its position as an agricultural powerhouse.
Recently, a delegation from Kavango East attended the 76th Edition of the Chinhoyi Provincial Agricultural Show in Zimbabwe.
Mashonaland West Province and the Kavango East Region signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in 2019.
Against this background, a delegation from Kavango East was invited by their counterparts to participate in the official proceedings of this year's Chinhoyi Provincial Agricultural Show.
The purpose of the event is to provide farmers with a platform to showcase the agricultural capabilities and achievements of Mashonaland West Province.
Ambassador Kandjii is optimistic that the Agricultural Show will lead to concrete and viable partnerships that can positively impact the lives of citizens in both Namibia and Zimbabwe.
The Namibian diplomat encouraged the visiting Kavango East Region delegation to observe and learn from their Zimbabwean counterparts' best practises in terms of agricultural productivity.
The Kavango East region had previously received seeds from Zimbabwe's SeedCo, and Ambassador Kandji stated that this gesture has, thus far, yielded positive results.
Ambassador Kandjii stated that the show also serves as a platform to promote agricultural entrepreneurship and trade.
It does so by showcasing new technologies that can enhance farming practises, making them more efficient, profitable, and sustainable.
The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland West Province, Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, urged the visiting delegation to explore various opportunities available in Mashonaland West Province.
She also invited Namibian investors to establish businesses in Zimbabwe.
