Military graduates have been urged to maintain their integrity, remain disciplined, and protect the ethos of the force as they begin their new journey in service.

The call was made at the ceremony to celebrate the completion of rigorous training for 16th Intake Recruits at the Namibian Defence Force Training Centre.

The event, which took place at the Osona Military Base in Okahandja, was attended by dignitaries, officials, and family members.

Addressing the audience, the Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, Frans Kapofi, commended the dedication of the more than 1200 graduates who completed the demanding training programme.Kapofi, while acknowledging the challenges the recruits had faced during their nine-month training, emphasised the importance of discipline, professionalism, and patriotism in their roles as members of the NDF. He particularly commended the female recruits for their remarkable resilience, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with their male counterparts throughout.

The Minister further commended the Executive Director, instructors, and stakeholders for their contributions towards the success of the 16th Intake Recruit Training. Kapofi also seized the opportunity to address concerns regarding the behaviour of instructors, emphasising the need for a more rigorous selection process to ensure that they uphold themselves as exemplary role models for the recruits.

Also speaking at the event is the head of the training establishment. On his part, Defence Force Chief Air Marshal Martin Pinehas, when he administered an oath of allegiance to the young soldiers, urged them to remain disciplined as they began their new journey in service.

The event marked a milestone for the country and in the recruits' lives, showcasing their commitment to their country and their preparedness to face the challenges that lie ahead as members of the NDF.
