Egypt's Ambassador to Namibia wants to bring his country's football superstar and Liverpool forward, Mohamed Salah, to Namibia.

Wael Lotfy Batea revealed this as he provided an update on the bilateral relations between Egypt and Namibia to President Hage Geingob at State House.

The excitement brought to the nation by the Dr. Hage Geingob Cup over the weekend has inspired the Egyptian diplomat to expand relations to sports.

Ambassador Batea was among the diplomats invited as guests to the football showdown that saw Eeshoke Chula Chula beat the African Stars to clinch the Cup victory.

It is in Ambassador Batea's future plans to propose an official or friendly match between the national football teams of Egypt and Namibia.

If realised, he says, that match would likely see internationally celebrated football star Salah visit the country.
