Long queues for SIM card registration continue to be observed at MTC's mobile homes as the public rushes at the last minute to register their numbers.
The public was given an ample time of one year to register their numbers; however, the majority waited until the last minute.
Since the start of December, there has been a high turnout of people at mobile homes, and calls to extend the deadline are at the moment not being received.
Some people claim that often they go back home without being assisted because of the long queue.
"There is a need to have the due date extended to May for 2 or 3 months. We still have people who are not here and need to have their cards registered. The whole process is not even fair because some people who were behind are just passing by us and getting assisted before us."
"Yes we are aware of long queues at point of registrations whereby members of the public a flocking to mobile home and points of registration to make sure that they register their sim card before the due date which is the 31 of December what we did from our side to speed up the process of registration in helping our customers is that we have decided to extend the operation hours of our mobile homes which usually works from 08h00 to 17h00 but at least we have extended to 19h00 in the evening another thing that we have also done is that increased the numbers of agencies at points of registrations to have more hands on the ground to assist and we have also introduced recently the online sim registration for those who are unable to go mobile home."
