Residents and visitors in Walvis Bay expressed discontent with a lack of entertainment, saying it is dull compared to previous years.

During interviews conducted by the nbc News crew at Independence Beach, individuals shared their sentiments about the perceived lack of vibrant activities.

According to the residents, this time around, the town is known for its festive activities that draw locals and international visitors to the scene.

Some describe the beach area as being fully packed with cars, making it difficult to navigate their way to find the perfect spot to park and enjoy with family and loved ones.

They say around this time of the year, artists used to book events to entertain holiday makers as well as the locals.

Walvis Bay, a bustling port town on Namibia's coast, is usually characterised by its lively atmosphere. Sheltered by the Pelican Point sand spit, the town features a tidal lagoon teeming with birdlife, including flamingos, pelicans, and Damara terns.

The harbour is typically abuzz with fishing boats and ships, while east of the bay, coastal dunes like Dune 7 mark the beginning of the Namib Desert.
