University of Namibia (UNAM) Chancellor Dr. Nangolo Mbumba has emphasised the need for education funding to be put to good use to deliver the desired results.
Dr. Mbumba was speaking at the official launch of the UNAM Foundation brand and fundraising project.
Textbook shortages, infrastructure deficiencies, and quality of lecturing, curricula, and education aids are among the concerns highlighted by UNAM's Chancellor that need to be addressed.
Dr. Mbumba stated that more needs to be done to ensure a healthy balance between operational expenditure and funds spent on the welfare of both school-going and university students to ensure quality education outcomes.
"Remember, it is not about the brick and mortar, but rather about the outcomes facilitated by the education infrastructure and equipment that facilitate better instruction, improve student outcomes, and reduce dropout rates. I hope that we will all support the Foundation's website, which we are launching today, but most importantly, the projects presented earlier by the Executive Director of the UNAM Foundation, which highlight the impact to be made and value to be created through smart investments."
UNAM and the University of Namibia Foundation signed a Memorandum of Agreement to boost educational initiatives and develop facilities and a well-resourced environment to ensure well-rounded graduates.
