Addressing malnutrition in Namibia requires a multi-sectoral and 'whole of society' approach.

This would involve dealing with the root causes of malnutrition and a lack of an adequate diet.

To effectively fight malnutrition, stakeholders need to collaborate and ensure effective and successful utilisation of resources.

Robust social safety nets are encouraged to respond effectively to the needs of vulnerable communities that are affected by climatic conditions, and a lack of water, tools, or seeds to grow their own produce.

With N$9.3 million in support from the Japanese government, the Ministry of Health and Social Services will ensure the implementation of a project titled "Increasing Access to Quality Nutrition and Protection Services for Vulnerable Populations."

The targeted population includes women and children in the Omaheke, |Khomas, and Kunene regions.

Its targets are to improve the quality of care within marginalised communities and effectively respond to the growing number of malnutrition cases facing the healthcare system.

The project, funded through the Japan Supplementary Budget, is to be implemented over 12 months.
