The late Swapo Party liberation stalwart Ida Jimmy-!Ha-Eiros leaves a legacy of unmatched bravery and dedication to Namibia's liberation struggle during the colonial regime.

This was the sentiment expressed by Swapo Party veteran Pendukeni Ivula-Ithana.

"Comrade Ida Jimmy is a stalwart in the real sense of the word. She was a stalwart, as she sacrificed her life and her comfort at a time when it was not popular to do so. Comrade Ida Jimmy became a mobilizer for the liberation struggle in the country while I was outside the country, but our spirits met because what she was doing in the country was the same as what we were doing outside the country. She got arrested many times, and that arrest of her while the Boers thought they were penalising her and they were silencing her became the flame, and the light on her and us who were in exile became encouraged by her bravery. I remember at one point she was arrested while pregnant, heavily pregnant, and she delivered a child in prison."

Ivula-Ithana says the imprisonment of Jimmy-!Ha-Eiros while she was pregnant illustrates the callousness of the then-apartheid system.

She added that the legacy should inspire Namibians to overcome the economic hardships in the country.

Former politician and Swapo Party veteran David Shoombe, who served together with the late Jimmy-!Ha-Eiros as regional councillor, also paid his tribute, saying "Ida Jimmy, I don't actually have a lot of words to describe because she was actually somebody whom one can call a mother, a comrade, a grandmother, as well as a real comrade in arms. That was comrade Jimmy, and I will always remember it."
