President Nangolo Mbumba says Namibia considers India a friendly nation both pre- and post-independence and a strategic partner in bilateral relations.
Dr. Mbumba said this as he congratulated India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, who was re-elected into the position by members of his National Democratic Alliance last week.
The President said Modi's re-election is indeed a testimony to the trust and confidence that Indian nationals have in him.
President Mbumba added that he looks forward to working with Prime Minister Modi to further deepen relations between Namibia and India.
This includes harmonising collaboration on issues of mutual interest and concern at the multilateral front.
The Head of State also congratulated India, as the largest democracy in the world, for conducting peaceful and successful 2024 elections.
Prime Minister Modi, who leads the Bharatiya Janata Party, was sworn in for the third term on Monday after the coalition won more than half of the parliamentary votes in elections that took place in seven phases from April 19 to the 1st of this month.
