The Omaheke Region shows the lowest number of registered voters since the commencement of the General Registration of Voters (GRV) last month.

During the week of June 24 to 29, over 23,000 eligible voters registered in that region, while the |Khomas Region leads with eligible voter registration with 130,595 thousand voters registered.

Chief Electoral and Referenda Officer at the ECN, Peter Shaama, announced a cumulative total of 676,390 eligible Namibians registered as voters inside the country and at all Namibian Diplomatic Missions abroad.

Shaama has further expressed ‘great concern', noting a considerable decline in the turnout of eligible voters during the week of June 24-29.

“The Commission is therefore urging all eligible Namibian citizens who have not yet registered to do so as soon as possible, as there will be no window to extend the registration dates.” He said.

The general registration of voters continues across the country and at all Namibian diplomatic missions abroad until August 1, Monday to Saturday, from 08:00 to 19:00.
