Nedbank Namibia has pledged support for the Children's Parliament's future endeavours and to open bank accounts for all members of the 6th Children's Parliament.
The bank made the announcement during a dinner it hosted for the young MPs.
The dinner theme, "Funding for Children," aimed at highlighting the critical role of financial support in promoting children's welfare and education.
Nedbank Executive for Human Capital, Bianca Muller, called on other financial institutions to join the bandwagon to contribute meaningfully to the nation's efforts to transform the country's education system.
The blank cheque, which will allow the office to request any amount towards the future children's parliament, was received by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Professor Peter Katjavivi.
"Also, we will be looking at ways that can make the financial burden of attending the Children's Parliament lighter. The aim of this commitment is to empower youth through financial independence and responsibility, promote financial literacy, and prepare these young, bright leaders before me for a secure financial future. This initiative also emphasises promoting financial literacy by teaching essential skills such as budgeting and saving, preparing young leaders for a secure financial future."
Nedbank Namibia intends to involve each member of the Children's Parliament in key facets of the bank's involvement in society throughout the country in the months ahead.
The dinner included a panel discussion that explored effective funding mechanisms for children's programmes.
The night also served as an evening for leisure with entertainment and fun games for the young MP's.
