As the nation prepares to elect new leaders this year, the Former Plan Combatants Association (FPCA) converged in Ongwediva, Oshana Region, for a national conference to select their representatives to the Swapo Party Electoral College.

Addressing the former combatants, former Defence Minister Charles Namholo warned the delegates that this election isn't merely about titles and prestige.

Rather, it is about selecting those who can effectively represent them and address the pressing issues faced within communities, including those of the veterans, he said.

Namholo urged the delegates to ensure they select leaders who are active changemakers and not just placeholders.

The conference selected six members with equal female and male representation for the electoral college, slated for later this year.

Those who did not make the cut gave their blessings to the winners and wished them well going forward.

This was the first time the FPCA, as an affiliate of the Swapo Party, will take part in the electoral college.
