The Community of Outjo is calling for the withdrawal of the re-advertised position for the municipality's Chief Executive Officer, claiming that the requirements were relaxed to suit the council's preferred candidate.
The position for the municipality's CEO has since been re-advertised with a minimum experience of eight years and five years for middle to executive management level.
Responding to the community demands, Outjo Mayor Sieglinde ||Amamus says the municipality relaxed the requirements for the position of Executive Officer to attract a favourable number of applicants and not to favour any particular individual.
"There are no standard requirements for the CEO position, and it depends from council to council. We have then amended the requirements to what all other municipalities have. We want to take away the misconception we had in the last advertisement, as we would love to attract a favourable number of qualifying Namibians who will all compete for the position in a fair and transparent manner. To get the best candidate for the position. It is not wrong to do what we have done."
