Police in the Erongo Region have arrested 27-year-old Jessica Gaes as a sixth suspect in connection with the disappearance and death of Matheus Sheehama at Walvis Bay.
Gaes, who was reportedly in a relationship with the late 24-year-old UNAM student, made her first appearance in the Walvis Bay Magistrates Court, where she was denied bail and her case postponed to 22nd August.
The police have charged her with murder, kidnapping, and defeating the course of justice.
The other five suspects have also been charged with murder for allegedly attacking, killing, and kidnapping Sheehama.
While Sheehama was missing for more than a week, the community and family members repeatedly appealed to the police to arrest the girlfriend.
Sheehama allegedly disappeared without a trace after he was attacked at a braai held at his girlfriend's house last month.
Meanwhile, community and family members held a prayer session at the Independence Beach, at the spot where Sheehama's body was discovered on Tuesday.
Community activist Tangeni Mujoro urged all parents to raise children who respect every human life.
The family members say the tragedy has robbed them because Sheehama would have been the first graduate in the family if he had not been brutally murdered.
