Namibia has been incorporated into the African Young Leaders Foundation (AYLF) and has registered a chapter with the institution, which has its headquarters in Ghana.

The foundation, which now consists of 33 African countries, undertakes social impact initiatives that aim to empower and develop young leaders across Africa by providing them with the necessary tools, knowledge, and platforms to address the continent's most pressing issues.

The internationally registered non-profit organisation seeks to engage in humanitarianism by securing scholarships, educational funds, and bursaries for brilliant but needy individuals who wish to further their education.

Namibia's National President for the African Youth Leaders Foundation, Florian Marembo, says the overall objectives are to empower, groom, and also ensure the continent has responsible leaders who will take on the next generation.

The foundation also aims to look into social and economic aspects, as well as evaluate how its objectives align with Namibia's vision.

"Namibia is striving to have youth empowerment and also knowledge-based young leaders that are also taking up civic space and also looking into the aspect of them being part of decision-making bodies. So basically, for Namibia, it means a lot to us because we have finally a platform where we can engage with other youth leaders across Africa and have that networking platform, share and learn, and also foster and implement what others are doing in other countries."

Florian says that youth unemployment on the continent is one of their major concerns.

He emphasised that although they cannot eradicate youth unemployment, they are striving to find solutions as a combined effort to reduce its impact on young Africans.

"The entrepreneurship space is very important. Supporting young entrepreneurs and innovators is one of our calls to action in the AYLF. So we are looking into fostering young innovators into the entrepreneurship space and also building a name for businesses that can thrive and also be sustainable."
