The WorldSkills International Competition provides Namibia an opportunity to benchmark and showcase its technical and vocational skills. At the recently concluded 47th WorldSkills Competition in Lyon, France, Dr. Itah Kandji-Murangi, Minister of Higher Education, Technology, and Innovation, shared her thoughts with the nbc team.

Dr. Kandji-Murangi highlighted the valuable experience gained by Namibia's participants, who learned from global experts and competitors. She emphasized that the new skills observed could significantly benefit Namibia’s development if adopted.

The minister also addressed the gender bias and stereotypes often linked with technical and vocational sectors.

"Stereotypes are part of history and culture," she said. "But we, together with the NTA, have launched the 'Live Your Passion' program to break these stereotypes and encourage more people to join TVET sectors by sharing success stories."

The competition concluded on Saturday, and Dr. Kandji-Murangi is optimistic that the Namibian team may secure a medal or two.
