The //Kharas Football Regional Chairperson, Enrico Blaauw, has urged local companies and organizations to support struggling football clubs in the region.
Blaauw made the remarks at Keetmanshoop where Second Division outfit Real Fighters Football Club received a new kit donated by Ponoka Trading Enterprise.
The donation of 26 pieces of playing gear came at the right time as the club prepares for the annual Harders Cup,which is expected to take place in Luderitz over the weekend.
Enrico Blaauw - Regional Chairperson - Kharas Football Region said ”I want to thank Ponoka Trading Enterprise for giving back to the community. This is what corporate social responsibility is all about. This gesture should be emulated by all corporates, not only in the Kharas region but in Namibia at large. As the president said, "One Namibia, One Nation," let us share in the resources of this country”.
Andreas Isaacs, the coach of Real Fighters, informed NBC News that the new gear will boost his players' confidence.
This gesture will give our players motivation to go with hunger and try to win the tournament for Real Fighters, the supporters, and to make Ponoka Trading Enterprise proud” Isaacs outlined.
Johannes Ijorua, the main sponsor of the gear, says his company will continue to support sporting activities in the region and called on other companies to do the same.
“Normally when you are within communities, it is a social responsibility for a company to give back to the community. We have seen that these youngsters are eager to do more and participate in sports, which takes them away from the streets. That's why we decided to sponsor them with a kit” Ijorua said.
Real Fighters Football Club is one of twenty-one teams competing at the Harders Cup in Luderitz.
The winner will receive N$200 000 00.
