The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national health initiatives, with a focus on blood donation.

nbc Public Relations Manager, Beaulah Boois-Beukes, emphasised the organisation's role as a national broadcaster in setting an example for social responsibility and community service.

Speaking at nbc headquarters in Windhoek's Northern Industrial Area, where the final blood donation drive for 2024 was conducted, Boois-Beukes expressed confidence that the public broadcaster's active participation in this campaign will inspire other organisations to join the cause.

She noted the corporation's dedication to using its vast media platforms to raise awareness about critical health issues, including blood donation, with the ultimate goal of saving lives.

Boois-Beukes added that the nbc's involvement in this initiative not only supports the vital work of the Namibian Blood Transfusion Service (NamBTS) but also underscores the corporation's responsibility to lead by example.

"We were here earlier this year, that is in June, and now we have come back for the final blood donation. We are here to give back under the nbc Cares umbrella, and we're also here to encourage more corporates to come on board to join hands with NamBTS so that we can save lives one drop of blood at a time. So how does nbc reach the masses, and how do we contribute to sharing this important message of blood donation? The nbc has over 1.6 million viewers across nbc social media platforms, that is, TV and radio platforms, and our latest nbc mobile application. Here we can spread the message and make sure that the ordinary Namibian knows the importance of blood donation and that 1 donation can save about 3 lives."

nbc employees, some who donated blood earlier this year, once again participated with enthusiasm.

Staff members called on other large organisations to follow the organisation's lead, and make life-saving contributions to their communities.
