Police in the Omusati Region are ready to deploy law enforcement officials to maintain law and order at polling stations in the region during the Presidential and National Assembly Election on the 27th of November.
Police Regional Commander, Commissioner Ismael Basson, said 590 police officers will be deployed at various polling stations to maintain safety and security.
He said his teams are ready to serve the public and warned the would-be criminals to be on the lookout.
"Members are already informed; they just need to be briefed. Come the 27th, we are ready to make sure that deployment is fully done, all the polling stations are fully covered, and the law and order are maintained."
Commissioner Basson called on members of the public to go to the polls on time to minimise long queues.
He said the electorate should practice maturity to ensure peaceful elections.
"We are also calling on the public to, in the build-up to the elections, be mature and tolerant, tolerating different political parties. We need to tolerate each other; we need to be mature to understand that everybody has a choice of association: who you are going to associate with, who you are going to vote for or associate with—that is someone's choice, and we must respect that choice."
There are 230 fixed polling stations and 64 mobile points in the region.
