The government remains steadfast in its commitment to participatory democracy, inclusive development and regional integration.
Minister in the Presidency, Christine ||Hoëbes made these remarks on Wednesday at the Government Information Center (GIC) in Windhoek.
Over the past year, the Presidency prioritized engagement with traditional leaders across the country, reinforcing the partnership between government and the communities.
Referring to transparency and accountability, minister ||Hoëbes said that all 14 regional governors delivered their State of the Region Addresses, highlighting progress on key initiatives and identifying areas for further development.
An achievement in economic advancement was the launch of the Green Industrialization Blueprint, spearheaded by the Namibia Green Hydrogen Program under the guidance of the Economic Advisor and Green Hydrogen Commissioner.
This initiative aims to create extensive downstream opportunities by adding value to Namibia's natural resources.
"Alongside this, the government is advancing the commercialization of recently discovered hydrocarbon resources, ensuring these benefits reach all Namibians. The government also made progress in implementing recommendations from the Business Rescue Task Force, established by the late President. Key successes include the enactment of the Banking Institutions Act, revisions to the SME-Covered Relief Credit Guarantee, and the roll-out of the Development Bank of Namibia's Covered Relief Loan Scheme. Additionally, consultations on the Namibia Investment Promotion and Facilitation Act were concluded, and the Act is now under review by the Cabinet Committee on Legislation."
||Hoëbes said internationally, Namibia has strengthened partnerships through high-level engagements, enhancing its role in regional and global aspirations.
A highlight she pointed out, is the inauguration of the Botswana-Namibia Binational Commission, which resulted in seven bilateral agreements.
"One notable outcome is the introduction of 24-hour operations at the Trans-Kalahari and Katima-Mulilo border posts, significantly improving trade, easing movement for citizens, and reducing congestion."
