The Tses Village Council, in partnership with the Social Security Commission (SCC), will be launching information and communication technology initiatives aimed at empowering the village's youth.
Located 80 kilometres north of Keetmanshoop, the peaceful village served as a school for prominent Namibians during the apartheid era.
The village is home to one primary and one secondary school.
The Village Council's Chief Executive Officer, Fritz Christian, stated that the village reached out to the commission for donations of ICT equipment and noted that the project's focus is to bring ICT services to the village youth.
"If we can have the youth busy and not leave them idle, then we also manage to rescue the future."
The Social Security Commission donated 10 computers to the village council, signalling the project's launch.
Christian noted that the village council used its funds for wiring and internet connectivity and is optimistic that the ICT Centre will grow and provide opportunities for youth to hone their ICT skills.
