Students at the University of Namibia (UNAM) Henties Bay campus shared how the late Founding President Sam Nujoma's legacy inspires them to pursue education.
Peingeondjambi Haufiku, a student at UNAM Henties Bay Campus, said that the campus wouldn't exist if it weren't for Sam Nujoma. Nujoma's frequent visits to the campus inspired Haufiku.
Lusia Munemupapa, also a student at UNAM Henties Bay campus, said Nujoma's legacy lives on in their hearts, guiding them with his wisdom. Munemupapa added that they are inspired by his spirit to strive for excellence and unity and to celebrate his incredible work.
Jemima Nakashole, a student at UNAM Henties Bay campus, said they will remember Nujoma for being a positive person who promoted education. Nakashole said that Nujoma is one of the reasons why she is at the campus and that the campus's existence is very important considering the current youth unemployment rates.
Steven Ntjinano said that Nujoma would always vouch for universities doing research. He added that the UNAM Henties Bay campus is an example of Nujoma's vision to improve the fishing sector and food security in the nation.
Dietlinde Nakwaya-Jacobus, a Senior Lecturer at UNAM Henties Bay, recalled Nujoma graduating with a master's degree in geology. Nakwaya-Jacobus remembered seeing him on campus in Windhoek, visiting the library and geology department, and going on field trips with other students.
