Three men have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that took place last night at Nau-Aib, Okahandja, while two other suspects remain at large.
The men, aged between 28 and 30, stole 37 packs of Closwa Biltong and N$21,500 in cash.
According to NamPol, a 58-year-old businesswoman was closing her businesses and returning home. As she drove into her yard, she was allegedly approached by a suspect who demanded cash. When she stated that she had nothing, he slapped her.
A second suspect allegedly confronted the complainant's son, forcing both of them into the house. A third suspect reportedly struck the businesswoman with a pistol before locking them inside.
The suspects then fired shots into the air and fled the scene in a maroon Mazda, taking the money totalling N$21,500.
Following swift action by NamPol's Serious Crime Unit, three suspects were arrested at the Okapuka police roadblock last night.
Police spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi confirmed that a 7.65mm pistol with its serial number scratched off and packets of biltong from Closwa Biltong were found inside the vehicle.
The Closwa Biltong shop was also broken into on the same night, and the business owner is expected to open a case.
