Farmers at the Hardap Dam Irrigation Scheme are rejoicing and relieved as the Hardap Dam they rely on for irrigation has risen to more than 60% following rains in its catchment area.

Late last year, NamWater had to suspend water supply to the farmers' irrigation plots after the dam's water level critically dropped to below 10%.

The water supply was restored earlier this year when the dam's water level improved.

Latest readings released on Sunday by the Hardap Irrigation Scheme Association showed the dam has reached a water level of 63.4%.

It also indicated no new river flows were recorded at the flood warning stations, while very light rains ranging from 0.2 mm to 2.2 mm were recorded on Sunday.
