This weekend, over 100 aspiring young athletes gathered at the MTC Dome for an exciting Sport Open Day, an event designed to empower underprivileged children from various Swakopmund schools. The initiative, part of the MTC Dome’s corporate social responsibility efforts, focuses on providing children who might not otherwise have access to high-quality sports programs the opportunity to develop their talents.
The Futur Stars Program aims to discover and nurture young athletes by offering expert coaching, mentorship, and access to top-tier training facilities. The program's primary focus is to empower local youth through sports while promoting values such as discipline, teamwork, and confidence, ensuring they are equipped for a brighter future.
A well-structured schedule allowed participants to engage in multiple sports, giving coaches the chance to spot potential future stars. Each child received a sport card and rotated through different activities, spending 45 minutes at each station. This diverse approach helped identify talent across various sports disciplines.
Among the event’s facilitators was Jordan Kisting , the face of the program, who stressed the importance of reaching out to underprivileged children to help them experience the joy of sports and discover their potential.
“The Dome recognizes that our social responsibility is to reach out to children from different schools and identify their talents across various sports,” said Kisting.
“We offer football, hockey, volleyball, netball, athletics, and even paddle – a new sport. These activities give children the chance to get involved, and who knows? Some of our future top athletes could come from this very group. This Open Sports Day allows us to uncover hidden talent and provide the support needed to develop it in the best possible way”he said.
As the young athletes bonded over their shared love for sports, the event not only promoted physical fitness but also fostered personal growth, serving as a beacon of hope for the community.
The MTC Dome hosts this event twice a year, reaffirming its commitment to investing in the next generation of athletes and equipping them with the tools they need to succeed both on and off the field.
