
The police have arrested four men in connection with the theft of 31 cattle from Farm Mountbauten and Farm Bergvlei in the district of Outjo.
The suspects, aged 30, 34, 41, and 47, were arrested during a joint operation by police, a farmer's association, and the local neighbourhood watch after allegedly driving the cattle with a total value of N$372,000 from the two farms to a neighbouring farm, where they slaughtered 30 cattle.
One cow was found alive but injured on the leg to prevent it from running.
The suspects further made biltong from the meat and hung it to dry out.
A taxi that was used in the commission of the crime was impounded and police investigations continue.
In another incident the police are investigating two cases of drowning in the Omusati Region.
The first incident took place at Olupito village, Okalongo Constituency, on Friday afternoon, when neighbours found the body of Peelo Iduwa Gabriel (23) floating in the water a few meters away from their house. The deceased was last seen around noon on that same day.
Family members indicated that the deceased suffered from epilepsy and psychosis.
Also, on Friday, at about 08h00 at Ohambada village in Outapi Constituency, the lifeless body of Erastus Simeon (71) was discovered floating in a water pond next to his house. He would regularly go fishing with hooks in the same pond.
The deceased was last seen on Thursday evening.
No foul play is suspected at this moment.
In a different case a 48-year-old woman from Farm Wolftoon near Aranos in the ||Kharas Region was defrauded of N$840,900 on Friday.
According to the police, the complainant received a phone call from someone who introduced himself as an employee of Telecom Namibia, who said he was busy updating the complainant's Wi-Fi system.
The suspect then instructed the complainant to download the "ANYDESK" app to both her laptop and cellphone and follow instructions as instructed by the suspect.
During that process, the suspect transferred the money from her bank account without her consent.
The suspect has not yet been identified, and police investigations are ongoing.
