The Ohangwena Region has so far relocated 235 people from the Oshikango and Engela constituencies. These two constituencies are among the most affected by the floods, along with Ohangwena, Ongenga, and Endola.

This morning, the regional leadership conducted a helicopter ride using the police's B3 helicopter to gain an aerial view of the situation on the ground. The team aimed to identify the areas most affected by an influx of water from Angola, compounded by rainwater received over the past few weeks.

The situation is dire in villages such as Oshikango, Eeshoko, Onghala A and B, Oimbadalunga, Uuhongo, Onambango, Omatunda, and areas surrounding the oshana Shanalumono.

Aerial observations reveal a grim picture, with some households and crop fields submerged. Many residents have already evacuated, but some remain hopeful that conditions will return to normal soon.

The helicopter was also used to deliver medical services to residents of Onghala A and B villages, a gesture welcomed by those who have been cut off by the floods.
