The Swakopmund coastline was alive with energy over the weekend as the PUPKEWITZ NASFED Open Water Ocean Swim 2025 attracted top swimmers and spectators from across the region.

The event kicked off early on Saturday with swimmers registering for a full day of ocean challenges. The men's 1.5km race launched the competition, setting a high standard for the rest of the day’s events. Following closely was the women’s race, which showcased fierce competition and impressive athleticism.

The afternoon saw the athletes tackle the 3.8km long-distance races for both men and women, with the day culminating in an exciting 4x500m Mixed Relay, which had the crowd on the edge of their seats.

In the end, Tristan Nel emerged as the overall winner, demonstrating exceptional skill and stamina against a strong field of swimmers.

In the Masters category, Dentie Louw and Lucy Louw were recognized for their outstanding performances, each taking home the Male and Female Master Awards, respectively.

The event, organized by NASFED, not only celebrated the competitive spirit but also emphasized the importance of ocean conservation, leaving participants and spectators with lasting memories of a thrilling day by the sea
