Music is humanity's universal language, as it transcends borders, unites cultures, and inspires billions of people.

This was said by Namibian Society of Composers and Authors of Music (NASCAM) Chief Executive Officer Albert Nicanor, who also called for an end to piracy in the digital space, as it remains a challenge for NASCAM.

He was speaking at the commemoration of World Intellectual Property Day, organised by the University of Namibia (UNAM) in collaboration with the National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST), NASCAM, and the Business and Intellectual Property Authority (BIPA) in Ongwediva, Oshana Region.

On the occasion, local musician Exit Rockaz said local musicians want to earn money from their work, but some bureaucratic systems make it challenging for artists to generate more income from their art.

He emphasised the need for copyright protection to enable local creators to make a living from their creativity.
