The Patron of Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) Eenhana Campus, Hifikepunye Pohamba, has called on the government to expedite the establishment of a campus at Eenhana.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony for the NUST Class of 2025 in Eenhana, its former President Hifikepunye Pohamba expressed disappointment over the stagnation of the project.

He said it was disheartening to see an initiative of such importance being delayed despite the official groundbreaking ceremony held last year.

Pohamba further said that the campus must be completed to give students the learning environment they deserve.

At present, NUST classes in Eenhana are being held at the Bill Mwaningange Rural Development Centre in Eembaxu, a temporary arrangement pending completion of the new campus.

Pohamba emphasised the importance of timely infrastructure development to support quality education and regional development.

He called on the Ministry of Education to avail funds for the construction of the NUST Eenhana campus, and he called on both the public and private sectors to invest in this development.

Eenhana town council has already provided land for the campus.

This year, a combined student population of 2,804 graduated from both the Windhoek and Eenhana campuses.

Out of that figure, 1,192 graduates are men, while 1,612 are women, and Pohamba applauded women for their commitment to education.

Education, Innovation, Youth Sports and Culture Deputy Minister Dino Ballotti assured the Patron that his ministry is committed to the construction of the Eenhana NUST campus, and he is hopeful that once the construction kicks off, it will be completed on time.
