The government has emphasised that it recognises the importance of engaging the legislature in the implementation of national development plans and programmes.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah stressed this during a consultative meeting with the leadership of the All People's Party, APP, at State House.

The APP is the second opposition party to meet with the President for discussions covering a wide range of national issues, including the implementation of the 6th National Development Plan and Vision 2030.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah noted that, with only five years remaining before the target year for Vision 2030, its final phase of implementation now falls under the 8th Administration.

Outlining her administration's priorities, the President underscored the need for the 8th Parliament to be actively involved and for all arms of the state to work collectively to achieve progress.

The APP described the engagements as a call for shared responsibility.

Its leader, Ambrosius Kumbwa, said their initial concerns regarding the transformation of the agricultural sector – particularly in the two Kavango regions and the Zambezi Region, considered the country's breadbasket – are being addressed under NDP6.

According to Kumbwa, the onus now lies in effective execution to ensure that the benefits are fully realised and reach citizens across the country.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah is expected to continue the consultative meetings with other political parties represented in Parliament.
