Cabinet has approved several Memoranda of Understanding between Namibia and Botswana, covering various sectors including energy, education, and health.
During the latest briefing by the Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, Cabinet approved the proposed Memorandum of Understanding between Namibia and Botswana on cooperation in the field of energy resources.
Another decision approved by Cabinet was an MoU between Botswana's Ministry of Health and Wellness and Namibia's Ministry of Health and Social Services, focusing on cooperation in the health sector.
"Cabinet took note of this very important MOU and authorised the Minister of Health and Social Services to sign the MOU with her Botswana counterpart on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Namibia. The third Cabinet decision is an MOU between Namibia and Botswana on cooperation in the field of employment and labour cooperation. Cabinet took note of this very important MOU and further authorised the Minister of Justice and Labour Relations to sign the MOU on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Namibia," Theofelus said. She added that "The fourth Cabinet decision is an MOU between Namibia and Botswana on cooperation in the field of gender equality and child protection. Cabinet approved the proposed MOU between the two governments, and in addition, authorised the Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare to sign the MOU on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Namibia at an appropriate time."
The cabinet also approved the proposed memorandum of understanding between the two countries in the field of educational cooperation, to be signed by the Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts, and Culture.
