The Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare (MGECW) has launched its strategic plan for 2025 to 2030.
The strategic plan aims to promote equal opportunities for women and men, and improving child protection services.
The strategic plans cover four pillars, namely gender equality and community empowerment, child care and protection, institutional and operational excellence, and stakeholder coordination and advocacy.
The strategic plan is further aimed at improving care and protection for children's well-being, enhance service delivery standards, combat gender based violence, review and improve policies and laws relevant to gender equality and child welfare.
The Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare, Emma Kantema highlighted the plans' positives.
“This strategic plan is an indicated marks a renewed chapter which is guided by the vision of our president, Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and through this plan the ministry reaffirms its determination to advance gender equality, equitable socio-economic development, equitable,that is providing equal access to women, men, boys and girls and also to advancing the well-being of the children.”
The Acting Director of Performance Improvement in the Office of the Prime Minister Jona Nakashona described the plan as not just a document but a commitment to innovation, collaboration and growth.
“This strategic plan will be a roadmap that will guide the ministries towards achieving its goals. Strategic plans are implemented by cascading them into annual plan for the financial years.Annual plans are further cascaded into individual plans actions, which we call performance agreement, highlighting individual commitments, expected deliverables for the year.”
The strategic plan will focus on areas such as Integrated Early Childhood development, Child Protection Sustainable Social Protection, Community Empowerment and Resilience.
